CFL Labour Day Classic

Calgary -8 over Edmonton

McMahon Stadium - Calgary, AB

6:00 PM ET. Labour Day in Alberta is always loud, always emotional, and usually lopsided. Calgary has owned this rivalry on Labour Day for more than a decade, winning 10 of the last 12, and the gap between these teams remains significant despite Edmonton’s recent uptick.

The Elks arrive with three straight wins, and the market has overreacted. Yes, they’ve looked sharper since Cody Fajardo took over, but context matters. All three of those wins came against East Division teams, and Edmonton remains 0-4 versus the West. This is where the rubber meets the road. Calgary has bullied the division all season, going 5-0 against West opponents, and their roster construction is built to handle these heavyweight divisional tilts.

The Stamps sit at 7-3, just two points behind Saskatchewan for top spot, and last week’s 32-15 dismantling of the Riders was a warning shot. They have continuity, a stable offensive line, and the CFL’s most efficient red-zone attack. Edmonton’s defence has improved on paper, but it hasn’t faced anything close to Calgary’s balance and tempo. Playing three games against Ottawa and Toronto can make numbers look friendlier than they really are.

The Elks are getting love because they’ve stopped losing, not because they’ve proven they can beat top-tier competition. There’s a world of difference between grinding out wins over the East and stepping into McMahon Stadium on Labour Day, where Calgary’s intensity level historically buries visitors.

Edmonton is a nice story, but this is a reality check spot. Calgary has more depth, more weapons, and the edge in the trenches. Anything less than a two-score win for the Stampeders would be surprising.

Take advantage of BET365's early MLB payout offer!

For straight bets, if the team you back to win goes 5 runs ahead at any stage during the game, BET365 will pay out your bet in full regardless of whether the opposition comes back to win the game.

For parlays and Same Game Parlays, if a team you have backed goes 5 runs ahead, this selection will be marked as won within My Bets, with the remaining selections left to run.

Here is a wager we were paid out early on that would eventually lose.
