Hamilton +8½ -110 over Saskatchewan

7:00 PM EST. The market has reacted exactly as you'd expect after hearing that Bo Levi Mitchell is out, and in our opinion, it has reacted too aggressively. Quarterbacks move point spreads, but not all the way to this extent. Hamilton's number has been inflated because the betting public sees Mitchell's absence and immediately assumes the Tiger-Cats have little chance. That's often where value is created. The line is no longer based solely on the teams—it's based on perception, and perception can create opportunity.

Hamilton isn't a team that's built entirely around its quarterback. The Tiger-Cats have established an identity based on physical football, disciplined defense, and controlling the pace of the game. They don't need a quarterback to throw for 400 yards to stay competitive. Their defense has kept them in games all season, and with Mitchell sidelined, expect Hamilton to lean even more heavily on that unit while asking Taylor Powell (or the next man up) simply to manage the game and avoid costly mistakes.

Meanwhile, Saskatchewan continues to receive a premium from the betting market. The Roughriders have had a strong start, but they could just as easily have a much different record. Bettors are paying for Saskatchewan's reputation while discounting Hamilton because of one injury. That's exactly the type of overreaction we're looking to fade. In the CFL, where so many games are decided by one score, grabbing more than a touchdown with a fundamentally sound, well-coached team offers outstanding value.

Hamilton doesn't have to win this game for the wager to cash. They simply need to avoid beating themselves, play the style of football they've played all season, and let their defense keep the game within reach. We believe the market has overreacted to Mitchell's absence, inflating this number beyond where it should be. We'll gladly take the points with the Tiger-Cats.
