Montreal -3½ -105 over BC 

7:30 PM EST. The Lions have become one of the hottest teams in the CFL, but that is exactly what makes this number so appealing. We are not buying B.C. after a quiet stretch where nobody was paying attention. We are stepping in against a team that has suddenly become the trendy side, and I trust that the market has given the Lions a little too much credit for what they have accomplished lately.

Montreal is back in its own building, and that is where I trust the Alouettes to put their best football on display. The loss in Winnipeg was a wake-up call for a club that had been rolling, and I have no problem throwing that performance out the window. This is a completely different setting, and I trust Montreal to come out with considerably more urgency and play with the physical edge that has been missing recently.

The matchup also sets up nicely for the Alouettes because they have enough balance on offense to keep B.C. from dictating the game. Montreal does not need to turn this into a shootout or ask one player to carry the entire offense. The Alouettes can attack in different ways, stay aggressive and put the Lions under pressure for four quarters. At home, I trust that approach to eventually create the separation we need.

This is really a matter of buying Montreal at a number created by B.C.'s recent success. The Lions deserve the respect they have received, but I am not convinced they deserve to be laying only a field goal on the road against this Montreal team. The Alouettes are too good in their own building, and I expect the response after last week's setback to be immediate. Montreal -3.5 is the play. We are fading the hot team, backing the home favourite and expecting the Alouettes to take control of this game and win by more than a field goal. Sounds easy right.....see you at the window!
