Detroit owns the best record in the Eastern Conference and is the only team to reach the 20-win mark so far this season. By résumé alone, the Pistons look like a team that shouldn’t be catching points anywhere in the conference, let alone against a Boston group that has entered murky waters since the end of their playoff run in the Spring. And yet, here we are, with the Celtics laying points. That’s not an accident — it’s a message.
