Toronto +9½ -110 over Cleveland
NBA Playoff Series Game 5
Series Tied 2-2
7:30 PM EST. There is absolutely nothing in Cleveland’s recent play that justifies laying this kind of number. The Cavaliers have won games in this series, yes, but they haven’t looked dominant doing it. In fact, they’ve looked vulnerable in every single contest. Even in their early wins at home, the margin on the scoreboard masked a lot of sloppy execution and stagnant offense. This has not been a team firing on all cylinders — it’s been a team surviving stretches where the opponent beat itself.
That’s especially true when you look at Toronto’s turnover issues early in the series. During the regular season, the Raptors were among the better teams in protecting the basketball, yet in Game 1 they turned it over 22 times, and followed that up with another careless performance in Game 2. Those games were less about Cleveland imposing its will and more about Toronto failing to play its normal brand of disciplined basketball. Once the Raptors settled in and cleaned that up, the series immediately became more competitive.
Cleveland’s offense has been the real concern. In the two games in Toronto, the Cavaliers struggled to score, struggled to create rhythm, and looked uncomfortable when forced to play in the half court. Decision-making has been inconsistent, ball movement has slowed, and long scoring droughts have become a recurring theme. That’s not the profile of a team you trust to separate by double digits, especially in a playoff environment where possessions tighten and margins shrink.
Now the market is pricing Cleveland like a powerhouse and Toronto like an afterthought. That’s perception, not reality. This series has been far more balanced than the numbers suggest, and the Raptors have already shown they can dictate pace and control stretches of play. Getting 9½ points with a team that has proven it can compete — and just demonstrated it can win — is simply too much to pass up.
Win or lose, we’re taking the best of the number and right now, the number is on Toronto.
