10:00 AM ET. The Pitmen are a team whose reputation precedes themselves. Hednesford has had the investment and they have been climbing up the English football pyramid, appearing well on their way to the National League North sitting first in the NPL table. This is exactly the kind of runaway train that no one wants to get in front of and everyone wants to get behind. But there are scenarios where doing the opposite bodes value, this is one of them.

The Robins have been a disappointment thus far in the 2025-26 campaign. Last year, Ilkeston missed the playoff bracket for promotion by six points, emerging as a contender in the pre-season. However, the Robins have gone the other way, sitting one point clear of the drop with 22 points in 16th. And that's where all the polemics come into play. The market is pricing Ilkeston on its potential not on what the surface-level data suggests. Think about it, if Ilkeston lived up to billing, the Pitmen would not be just under evens to win here, they would require plus money and the Robins would be priced inside of two-to-one.

With that being said, Ilkeston despite its table position is priced as live here regardless. The Pitmen come in off a 1-1 draw with promotion contender Warrington Rylands, a game that saw the win trickle away in the second half despite leading and dominating for long stretches. What appears to be a three-point lay-up is the type of setting where the unthinkable happens as Ilkeston undoubtedly had this game circled and now they get the Pitmen in the cold and remote hills of Derbyshire just where they want them. The Robins had Hednesford dead to rights on their own pitch in September until a stunning stoppage time rally of two goals in three minutes allowed the Pitmen to escape with a win after a closing penalty was awarded to allow Hednesford to steal the win. The number says things can go differently and the Robins are more than capable of delivering. The Robins can get back on track, erase scrutiny, and get another crack at Hednesford in the Peaks and we’re investing in that notion that a different outcome is on the horizon too. Robins pull the upset.
