Sale is a nine-time All-Star, a 2024 Cy Young winner, and a future Hall of Famer who has rediscovered his vintage form. He is 4-1 in his last five decisions with a 2.52 ERA on the year, has logged six straight quality starts, and hasn’t allowed more than two runs in 11 consecutive outings.

Christopher Sanchez, up until his most recent start against the Mets, was on a Cy Young pace himself. Despite being lit up for six runs in 5.1 innings that night, he still holds an 11-5 record with a 2.72 ERA and 173 strikeouts. In contrast, Sale nearly shut down this same Phillies lineup his last time out, falling one out short of a complete-game shutout.

Sale as a +120 underdog looks like a steal, which explains the flood of market money on Atlanta. That typically signals the favorite looks too easy. Sanchez is being dismissed too quickly after one poor start, even though his body of work stacks up with anyone. Once this game turns into a battle of bullpens and lineups, Philadelphia holds the edge across the board.
