McClanahan has once again been outstanding, using a lively fastball and devastating secondary pitches to keep hitters off balance. Even so, the Yankees are one of the few lineups built to challenge top-tier southpaws. They feature several right-handed power bats capable of changing a game with one swing, and their patient approach can drive up pitch counts early, creating opportunities once Tampa Bay turns the game over to its bullpen.

The public is likely to gravitate toward Tampa Bay because of McClanahan's dominant numbers and home-field advantage, but baseball is rarely that simple. When you can get the Yankees at a reasonable road price with Gerrit Cole on the mound, it's a spot worth attacking. New York has the deeper lineup, the experience to handle high-pressure games, and enough offensive firepower to break through even against an elite starter. If Cole delivers the quality outing he's capable of, the Yankees have every opportunity to steal this one on the road.
