Minnesota -1½ +135 over Kansas City

Taj Bradley (RHP – Minnesota)

Seth Lugo (RHP – Kansas City)

7:40 PM EST. Taj Bradley has put together one of his best stretches of the season, making Minnesota an attractive play on the run-line. Outside of one rough outing, Bradley has allowed two earned runs or fewer in six of his last seven starts. Over the past month, he has paired a 2.90 ERA with a strong 3.46 xERA while improving nearly every meaningful underlying metric. His strikeout rate has climbed into the upper-20% range, translating to roughly 10.5 K/9, while his swinging-strike rate and first-pitch strike percentage have both trended upward. Bradley has also kept his BB/9 under control, allowing him to attack hitters rather than pitching from behind in the count. Kansas City hasn't solved him either, managing just a .565 OPS against Bradley, a strong indication that his arsenal matches up extremely well with this lineup.

Seth Lugo enters with respectable season-long numbers, but his recent form hasn't been nearly as convincing. He owns a 4.94 ERA over his last five starts, and the underlying metrics point toward a pitcher whose margin for error has become much smaller. Lugo continues to rely on command more than overpowering stuff, producing a strikeout rate in the neighborhood of 7.5 K/9. His xERA has drifted above his traditional ERA, and hard contact has become more frequent during this recent stretch. That's not an ideal profile against a Minnesota lineup that has been swinging the bats with far more authority at home.

The Twins have built momentum behind quality pitching and a balanced offense capable of putting pressure on opposing starters from the opening inning. Bradley's recent surge has been backed by sustainable analytics rather than fortunate results, and his ability to generate swings and misses gives Minnesota a clear edge in the matchup. Kansas City enters facing a pitcher it has consistently struggled to square up, while Lugo arrives searching for the consistency he enjoyed earlier in the season.

Bradley is pitching like the better starter right now, his advanced metrics support continued success, and Minnesota's offense is well positioned to create enough separation to cash the run line. The Twins have the edge on the mound, the hotter current form, and the ingredients for a convincing multiple run home victory.
