The Chargers are still in their very early stages as a Division I program and have never been asked to play as a road favorite at this level. Their overall record might not look alarming at first glance, and their most recent effort was impressive — a narrow defeat at Boston College where they hung around far longer than expected. That type of performance earns quick market respect.

NJIT, on the other hand, does not look pretty on paper. Six straight losses will push bettors away fast. But the surface view is misleading. This makes the Chargers even more dangerous to back as they are being asked to travel and win as chalk for the first time in program history.
