Philadelphia +110 over New York Jets

7:30 PM ET. Preseason or not, the market loves an illusion. Right now, it’s buying into the illusion that the Jets have “depth” and the Eagles are cooked. As if either team has shown anything remotely reliable in August. As if anyone on either sideline actually gives a damn about the result.

What we do know is this: Philly is coming off a flat performance against Cleveland, but the panic over it is loud and overblown. That loss has tilted the market in New York’s direction, and now we’re seeing the Jets priced as -132 chalk against a team with equal motivation and similar depth. The correction went too far.

Yes, injuries are mounting in the Eagles' secondary. Yes, Tanner McKee is unlikely to play. But this is still a very well-coached team with battles raging all over the roster — particularly on the defensive line and in the back seven. Guys will be flying around trying to earn a paycheck, and if you’ve watched any of the Eagles’ preseason the last two years, you’ll know they don’t roll over just because the lights aren’t bright.

The Jets, meanwhile, are somehow getting credit for Adrian Martinez moving the ball against third-stringers while their own OL play has been shaky at best. A couple decent drives in garbage time doesn’t mean the Jets are about to steamroll anyone. Especially not a Philly defense that’s getting after it up front and still has live bodies all over the field.
