Colorado +6½ -110 over Georgia Tech 

8:00 PM EST. We are not stepping in yet because there is every reason to believe a +7 will become available, and if it does, that's the number we want. What's particularly interesting is that oddsmakers easily could have opened Georgia Tech -7 and probably wouldn't have discouraged a single Yellow Jackets wager. Instead, they hung -6½, keeping this game below the most important key number in football. Why? Colorado might be one of the least appealing teams on the board. The Buffaloes finished 3-9 last season, lost their final five games and were repeatedly blown out down the stretch. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech went 9-4, beat Colorado in Boulder last year and enters this season with plenty of optimism. Everything the market sees points toward the Yellow Jackets, yet the number remains stubbornly below seven. That gets our attention.

This isn't necessarily an endorsement of Colorado as much as it is a rejection of an inflated perception of Georgia Tech. The Jackets lost veteran quarterback Haynes King, and while Indiana transfer Alberto Mendoza has received positive reviews, he's still replacing the player who had been the centerpiece of this offense. Georgia Tech should be able to run the football with Malachi Hosley and Michigan transfer Justice Haynes, particularly against a Colorado defense undergoing massive personnel turnover. None of that is hidden, however. It's precisely why Georgia Tech is such an easy team to bet here. The Yellow Jackets' strengths are obvious, Colorado's weaknesses are obvious, and bettors laying less than a touchdown with the vastly more respected team will feel as though they've found a bargain.

That's exactly where the opportunity lies. Colorado's stock has been beaten into the ground, while Georgia Tech's stock couldn't be much higher. The Buffaloes have plenty to repair, but Julian Lewis is a year older, Deion Sanders attacked the portal again and new offensive coordinator Brennan Marion gives the offense a different look. We don't need Colorado to suddenly become a contender; we need them to be more competitive than the market expects. When virtually every argument points toward one side and the number still isn't where you expect it to be, we're interested in the other side. Colorado +6½ is the play, but we're going to wait. If the market gives us the full +7 before kickoff, we'll gladly take it. If not, we’re still playing it.
