10:00 AM ET. Perception is driving this number. Shrewsbury Town is being dismissed as a club in collapse after their ugly exit from League One and a toothless start to life in League Two. One point from their opening fixtures has them buried near the bottom, and the chatter is that they’re on a path to drop out of the EFL altogether. The marketplace doesn’t want anything to do with the Shrews.

Accrington Stanley, meanwhile, is perceived as solid if unspectacular. They handled Oldham in the EFL Cup, earned a draw against promotion-chasing Grimsby, and carry a six-year unbeaten run against Shrewsbury. On the surface, the case for Stanley looks obvious.

The line says otherwise. Oddsmakers opened Shrewsbury as the chalk, then steady one-way traffic against them forced adjustments that still leave the Shrews favored. That’s telling.
