11:10 PM ET. For years, Arsenal has carried the “next in line” label in the Premier League title race. They’ve been close, they’ve been competitive, and against Liverpool specifically, they’ve had their moments—three draws and a win in the last five meetings. Both league fixtures last season ended in stalemates, feeding the narrative that the Gunners are on the verge of finally taking a step past Liverpool.

This year’s opening matches only strengthen that perception. Arsenal has crushed their first two opponents by a combined 6-0, while Liverpool’s path has been far less convincing. A last-gasp win at Newcastle, a flattering 4-2 against Bournemouth, and a penalty defeat to Palace in the Community Shield have all painted the Reds as vulnerable. The table says Arsenal is ready to leap ahead.

The market, however, says otherwise. Despite Arsenal’s early dominance, they are being offered at +220 to win at Anfield, with the draw at +240. Liverpool sits as a +125 favorite—and that price is the tell. Anfield is not Old Trafford or Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Winning there is another level entirely, and oddsmakers are saying it loud: Arsenal’s chances of walking out with even a point are slim.
