LSU +155 over Clemson

7:30 PM ET. LSU has dropped five straight openers, including all three under Brian Kelly. Each loss has carried national embarrassment, from blocked kicks to last-second collapses. The perception is that the Tigers cannot be trusted in these spots.

Clemson, by contrast, enters with enormous hype. Many pundits have called them underrated, while some have gone as far as projecting them as national champions. Cade Klubnik has emerged as a Heisman candidate, and Death Valley remains one of the toughest places to play.

The opening market, however, told a different story. LSU was just a 2.5-point underdog in preseason numbers, suggesting oddsmakers viewed this matchup as close to even. The adjustment upward on Clemson is the product of hype, not reality.

LSU’s roster is still loaded with elite athletes, and the talent gap is narrower than perception suggests. The losing streak in openers eventually has to end, and this is the right spot for it. Forget the points, take LSU outright.
